There is a small market at the end of my block the owners are Korean and they are very nice people, they treat the customers very well and it is a pleasure to shop there, but in my experience, unfortunetly most korean stores are not like this.
I must say the same, Koreans have poor manners too. I was once stepped on in a club in the Philippines some years ago...she just looked at me and did not even say sorry.

How can someone forget where they came from in just a few years?

We had a layover in Beijing for a couple hours waiting for our flight to Guangzhou. Anyway fog and smog had set in heavily causing our flight as well as many others to be cancelled. We had to go get in line at the check in counter to rebook on a flight the next day, and what a zoo that was! I had never seen anything like it in my life, even in the most angry crowds here in the US. People were yelling, shoving, pushing, cutting in line- my wife and I were 2nd from the front of the line and it took over an hour to get to the front, because people kept cutting in front of us without even looking at us or apologizing. I'd try to get out in front of that person letting them know I was ahead (I don't speak Chinese so couldn't say much) and it did not matter- I'd walk up to the counter when it was my turn only to have two other people cut in front and start talking to the counter agent as I was already speaking! And what did the counter agent do? Immediately paid attention to them! Talk about feeding into the bad behavior!
Anyway it got worse and worse, the people in the crowd were all yelling, an agent would be helping one person and another would be yelling at him to get his attention, even reaching out and lightly slapping him on the head to get his attention- as if their issue is SO much more important than that of the person already being helped! And some people even climbed over the counter and were yelling at the guy from behind him, and at one point it looked like the agent was in the middle of a huddle because so many people had climbed over and surrounded him, all sticking their itineraries in his face, oblivious to the fact that he can only help one person at a time. And again the crazy thing was that the ticket agents seemed to just go with it, instead of whipping people into shape by demanding they get back on the other side of the counter, get back in line, and wait their turn!
Even my wife was disgusted, she knows it's that way in China, it's the norm but having lived here in the States for a few years by then she had forgotten just how bad it is.

No one throws blows during this kind of behavior? Odd.

Someone lightly "slaps" me in the head to get my attention they may wake up in an ambulance.

In China there are a lot of fights caused by this kind of thing.
However if you hurt someone badly you will be in jail and pay all his medical bills.

I know we try to be politically correct, but this generalization is pretty accurate... and may serve as a good tip for anyone interested in travelling in China.

I worked in China for 2 years. There were good and bad things. But in mainland China, queue cutting was a HUGE pet peeve of mine... and that's when there WAS a queue... usually it's just a big, frenzied mob.

I understood the frenzied mob mentality at places like inter-city buses, concerts, department stores, etc,... where people just want to get through to get there as soon as possible or get the best of whatever... I didn't like it, but I understood. What absolutely drove me mad was at airports. All seats are assigned. I didn't understand the mob to go in, as the plane wasnt going to take off any sooner, nor were any members of the mob going to get better seats. And lets say they had a significant amount of carry on, .... if it didn't fit, they would valet check it for you.

I never fully got used to it, but I did learn to accept it as a fact of life. You just have to roll your sleeves up and get ready to elbow and be elbowed.

I quit worrying about this years ago. I just sharpen my elbows and dive in the scrum.

"Why do Chinese people cut in line and feel no shame at all?"

Ha, ha. So true. I go to a local Indian Bingo Casino about once a month for a little slot playing and then for some lunch at one of their restaurants. I've had Chinese people cut in front of me while waiting in line to cash out my ticket voucher at the change machine; they've cut in front of me while waiting to play a slot machine; they've cut in front of me while waiting for my turn to get a Coke at the bar and they've even cut in front of me at the urinal for crying out loud. I've tried explaining that I WAS NEXT but they pretend to not understand. I've also noticed that they do not like to tip.

So you are going to take one example, and then publicly accuse all Koreans of having bad manners?
