Zhang Zhan ï¼ˆå¼ å±•ï¼‰was "warned" by Shanghai Police first time in March 2018, for her numerous "anti government" comments online. (No arrest, just warning.)
In April 2019, she was detained for 10 days for anti government activities.
In September 2019, she was detained again for 65 days. She protested in Shanghai with an umbrella showing "End socialism, throw off Chinese Communist Party".
In November 2019, she was detained for 11 days.
She was also an enthusiastic supporter of Hong Kong pro-independence movement, and wrote many articles.
All these above happened before COVID-19.
In May 2020, she was interviewed by The Epoch Times (run by Falun Gong). She also posted 122 youtube videos.
She was arrested on May 14, 2020.
I don't want to judge whether she said is right or wrong, because I never watched any of her reports.
However, the point it she had long been an anti government activist, but WSJ made it look like she was arrested only because of COVID-19. Typical propaganda by omission.
Oh I forgot to mention Zhang Zhan also broke in multiple quarantined buildings of Wuhan, and tried to "rescue" quarantined people.
China put quite a few people in prison for breaking quarantine protocols.

It turned out some of the videos were staged fakes, specifically that of men falling while walking and bodies piling up in the streets. They were refuted by students returning to New Zealand after the lockdown ended. The overly dramatic nature of the videos made one suspicious. There were more alarming stories from the normal media that may have been true, such as the preparations for high casualty counts by funeral parlors and morgues.

of course that's no where to be found in western media.
all they need is "journalist put in jail".
but hey, the western world would rather be free and give covid to everyone than forcefully quarantining the infected.
I am not interested in this topic, and would have ignored it if you didn't post.
I mainly criticize you, because you wish death and misfortune for my friends and my wife's family in China. You don't have any genuine concern for this lady, you are just using her as a tool against China.

Depends on what kind of Han Chinese are in those camps. If they were HKers and PRC dissidents I would care. If they were like Bettafish and maomao (which is most of them) then I would laugh my ass off.

Of course you are not. You are only interested in rebutting bad press about China.
