Plus, China is a great country with very strong culture and tradition (which doesn't apply to many countries on the earth). I don't see the point of trying not to identify oneself as Chinese when he is one.

Well at one point does one no longer become 'ethnically Chinese' since ethnic is a social not genetic construct. Yes, it would be fair to say his recent GENETIC history is from China, but if the culture is not there, I see that as less relevant and incidental. Now, of course, culture is becoming globalised though...
