My opinion is that Thailand probably comes closer to the list you've included related to SE Asia.

Singapore (economy, modernization) and Thailand (tourism, food).

The rest of your categories are too vague or too heterogenous to give an answer.

I don't think any one country is head over shoulders in all of those categories, but I'd have to say that Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and The Philippines are probably the four most prominent countries in SE Asia.

Most of them are pretty close to each other. I'd say Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore, Indonesia, and the Philippines are all pretty close for different reasons, and Brunei, Laos, Cambodia, East Timor and Myanmar are towards the back for different reasons.

SEA is a pretty diverse region. I'd say Thailand best represents the region, and has the most tourists. It's probably the country most people think of when 'South-East Asia' is mentioned.

seems like the SEA countries with the highest number of ethnic Chinese usually do the best

when the Chinese left Vietnam it seemed to get worse, seems like where ever the Chinese go the business booms
