Yemen would be cool, especially San'a, but most countries seem to advise against travel there due to terrorism.etc.

Time is limited, unfortunately.

Yes Jordan, Israel and Egypt deserve at least 10 days. Of course you'd want to do Egypt and Jordan first, as I don't think they'll allow you in if they see the Israeli stamp on your passport. Assuming they still stamp there.

Unfortunately, everywhere would be great to spend 10 days or a month or more.

But, sometimes, if you only have a day available, you gotta take advantage of that. Seeing somewhere even if for just a day, is still better than to never experienced it at all.

True. Where will you take this trip from? Wonder if it's possible to see Petra in a day?

It's a flight from Bahrain to Cairo Egypt on Royal Jordanian Airlines. I took the flight with the longest layover of about 8 1/2 hours. I think it's just enough time to hurriedly get a taxi directly for downtown Amman, get some lunch in some outdoor cafe, and quickly walk around as much as possible for the next 4 hours or so after lunch, until having to make my way back to the airport!

Not ideal, by any means, but it'll give me some impressions, and since it's essentially a layover, it's a free visit

So you'll be visiting Cairo? Would be keen to hear your experiences there.
