Russia east of the Urals? (place, people, live, comparison)

What's it like over there? This area has always fascinated me because it's such a huge portion of land that is largely mysterious to the average non-Russian. Not that many people live their either, at least in comparison to western Russia.

It is Asia. But it is populated by mostly white russian.
It's very cold, but it is a treasure of the Russians.

Actually, Russia has mostly White Russians in the western parts closer to Europe but more Asian people on the eastern parts.

Why is it their treasure? Is it like the mountain getaway of the Rockies in the US? Why is it so sparsely populated then?

I heard there are actually many Native Americanish type people as well, along with the Tartar and Mongol people.

Many Mongolian, Central Asian, and Chinese people are moving up to Siberia/living there. Also many North Asians (the 'Native American-type' people you mentioned above).
