This is appalling....beyond cruel, the meat is contaminated by mercury, unsafe to eat, 50 or so have been selected for sale to the marine parks I will never step foot in one of these parks again.

Yes it is really shocking. Broome in Western Australia has a sister city relationship with the town where this happens and many people think they should cut off ties with them.

These dolphins are just slaughtered because of "tradition" and no other reason. The human is the cruelest creature on the planet.

I don't think it is for meat. It is just a barbaric practice that is continued under the label of "tradition". It was tradition for Papuan New Guineans to be headhunters. A lot of "traditions" are barbaric and reason should pervail over a lot of these primitive cultural practices. There are many sickening things practiced in many countries.

It said some were eaten for meat. It's well known the Japanese hunt whales for meat but how come you don't hear about dolphin meat?

Very little of it is to do with food. The majority of Japanese don't eat whale meat and this is why they say it is for scientific research. Anyway I don't know why people kill such intelligent creatures in such a barbaric fashion.

I hope this practice stops. The sooner the better.
