I remember one of my female classmates in high school is half Tongan and half Japanese, but she looked like she came straight out of Philippines or Thailand. She had a very Southeast Asian looking phenotype.

I wonder if miscegenation between East Asians and Pacific Islanders in most cases would produce Filipino looking off springs ?

I think Polynesians were more of an offshoot of people who came through South-East Asia and Southern China. They are somewhat close to Filipinos, Malays, Javanese, Sumatrans, but to me they look closest to Taiwanese aborigines, which some believe was the spreading out point for Austronesian civilisation.

Phenotype wise, Filipinos look like a middle ground between Pacific Islanders and Oriental East Asians.

These Javanese girls are unmistakably 'Mongoloid', the same as other East Asians.

They look too dark to pass for Oriental Han Chinese or Japanese. They have the same skin color as a Brown person from a slum in Manila. Their skin is not Yellow.

But facially I mean they look pretty Mongoloid. Their skin has the same 'yellowish' overtones because of it's thickness it's just less visible because of the melanin.

Some Hmong can be pretty dark (and rural Chinese in general can be):

These women have the more southern Mongoloid look, with rounder faces/ broader noses compared to say this:

Javanese just closer to the Sundanese/Tionghoa/ Balinese/Betawinese, not close to another branch:
the cultural influence of the Buddhist -Hindu India.

Of course they look Mongoloid, but looking Mongoloid does not mean they look Han Chinese. Han Chinese is not the only phenotype to be found within the Mongoloid race. Just like Nordic is not the only phenotype to be found within the Caucasoid race.

Malays and Austronesians are to the Mongoloid race like what Mediterraneans are to the Caucasoid race.
