I am a fresh graduate and I come from Australia. I wanted to work in Indonesia, particularly in Jakarta as a petroleum engineer. What's it like to be a petroleum engineer? Do Petroleum Engineers enjoy their job in Jakarta Indonesia?

Depends upon which Petroleum Engineering sub-discipline one pursues. There are 3 sub-disciplines, Drilling Engineer, Production Engineer, and Reservoir Engineer. A Drilling Engineer, as the name would imply, is tasked with the drilling of well meant to produce oil or gas. They generally work both in an office and out in the field at well sites. A Production Engineer is tasked with getting the well to produce oil and gas after it is drilled and later to economically keep the well flowing making oil or gas. They generally work both in an office and out in the field at well sites. A Reservoir Engineer works in concert with Geoscientists (geologist, geophysicist, petro physicist) to locate reserves of oil and gas an quantify the value of the oil and gas. After the well is producing the Reservoir Engineer will keep track of how much of the reserve has been produced along with how much there is left to produce from the reservoir. Reservoir Engineers generally work just in an office.

As for what it's like. Imagine a job where everything you do is done through a 5-1/2" pipe 2-miles long. Unlike other engineering disciplines such as civil, mechanical, etc. the Petroleum Engineer can never see what they are doing with a well.

Jakarta, Indonesia is a good choice but as with any job, there are good days and there are bad days. I like the fact that my job allows me the opportunity to work both in an office and to get out into the field. While some fellow engineers like to stay in the office and go out to the field as little as possible (these people are usually Reservoir Engineers). Like with many things in life, a job in Petroleum Engineering is what you make of it.

Try visiting career sites like jobsdb, jobstreet and many more, they have a lot of tips I'm sure you can get some advice from there. Also, try visiting westhillconsulting-career.com Westhill Consulting Career and Employment Australia. But a warning though, avoid scams be careful with the recruitment sites you're going to visit.
