I understand that in Malay, the Singapore and Brunei dollars are known as ringgit (the same name as Malaysia's current currency) as well as dolar, even though the American or Australian dollars are always known as dolar. How often or in what contexts are the Singaporean and Brunei currencies (and, for that matter, the Malaysian dollar before the 1970s) known in Malay as ringgit and as dolar?

Actually, the Singapore currency is always called "dollar", the moment it split and de-merged away from malaysia.

the Brunei currency is called "ringgit", however, it has a conversion value of 1:1 with the Sing dollar, this arrangement between both currencies is iron-clad.

The Brunie currency can be used throughout Singapore.

Source: I have used all 3 currencies.
