I think he is right about the Philippines. It has uncontrolled population growth, exacerbating poverty.

Pope says Catholics do not need to breed 'like rabbits'

Pope Francis has said that good Catholics do not have to breed "like rabbits", defending the Church's stance on artificial contraception and appealing to the world's 1.2 billion Roman Catholics to practice responsible parenting.

His comments came at the end of a trip to the Philippines, the Catholic Church's Asian stronghold, which last year passed a family planning law after a 15-year battle by the Church to block state-sanctioned contraception.

Philippines is dangerously underpopulated in my view. I would like to see the fertility rate double at the very least.

Imagine Manila with 100 million people. Would be a beautiful sight, yes?

I've heard traffic congestion is really bad now so with 8 times as many people I would not expect to see an improvement.

Because of sarcasm.

I don't get the logic behind the idea to breed like there is no tomorrow when, most likely/quite often, you can't even take care of the children - offer them a steady life, education, health care, good future. All this just to get your willy wet I find quite stupid.

I think having 7 million people show up to see him scared him. But he is trapped by doctrine so he can only say don't have sex that often.

I dont think 7 million people came to that mass. It looked more like 1 million. Compare pics of that mass to pics of his World Youth Day mass in Rio, where there were supposedly 3 million people.
