So? Another four hours by airplane, and you can be on the east coast of the US. If you've already done Philippines to California that extra bit isn't much.
It is when a very large established community already exists. Migrating to the far flung areas of the US is something only Chinese and Mexicans do. Rarely do other groups reach out as much as these 2, and those 2 alone account for more than half of the foreign born population in the US. So, obviously, smaller groups stick together. Why do Caribbean peoples concentrate themselves mostly to the east coast? It's just another 4 hours by plane, right? Same reason.
Why are there such a large Filipino immigrant population in California but not the rest of the U.S.?
California is full of immigrants so the people are more tolerant thus Filipinos find it easier to fit in.
There was this story about a Filipino in the East Coast cooking his favorite dried fish for breakfast. to the uninitiated, dried fish is to Filipino as bacon is to white people. dried fish emits a smell when being fried only Filipinos appreciate. now because of the smell, his neighbors called the fire department. that's how tolerant people in the east coast are
now if you are in California, there are so many immigrants that people are exposed to they have learned to just live with each other and tolerate each others culture.
besides, the climate in California afford the Filipinos or other southeast Asian immigrant to grow their tropical vegatables almost all year round, something you can not do in the East Coast

You don't grow tropical vegetables in California unless it's in a greenhouse or inside the house all year round. Nowhere in California has a tropical climate, but Florida does

You're Southeast Asian with Hispanic influences. You're not Latino or Hispanic no matter how much you stretch it. Why do internet Filipinos have a hard time accepting this simple truth, I have no idea. Why are some of you ashamed to be Asian?

I live in California so I know what im talking about. I even see bananas in some houses in Orange County so don't insist that you need greenhouse to grow tropical vegetables
and who told you that we don't consider ourselves as Asians? only a small percentage of the population has Spanish roots

Have you seen banana trees in Orange County actually bear fruit? Have you seen them outdoors in winter? Are you sure that it's actually the same plant that has lived for more than a year? Nowhere in California is considered tropical, just because a few houses have banana trees. Have you seen coconut trees and mango trees also?
The average annual temperature of San Francisco is 65°F, that of Manila is 85°F. It's a 20° difference. California is far from being tropical. And yes, you do need to grow MOST tropical plants inside a greenhouse in California. There's a reason why moringa (malunggay) costs so much in California's Asian supermarkets, while they're practically just given away in the Philippines.

Don't disconnect the link to the US Navy and their fleet ports and bases in California. With a base population in state then family unification becomes possible. So why move to Kansas and away from community support?

didn't see them fruit but it doesn't mean tropical vegetables aren't grown in California. the house we bought has even sweet potato in the garden, don't know if the previous owner knew that its tops can be eaten or if they even knew that its a root crop

Well I know bananas can be grown in some subtropical climates. They do it in Tenerife, Spain without a greenhouse. But, their latitude is below California and into Baja California. They also grow bananas in mainland Spain, but in greenhouses, and Spain's climate is even more stable than California's

I don't know why they don't spread out too. It seems most immigrant groups to the U.S. In the 20th century have confined themselves to a handful of urban areas. That includes the Chinese. I will give Mexicans credit that they are willing to move to the rest of the country in noticeable numbers.
