What? how is improving situation = not building basic necessity? damn where's the logic in there lol. Don't be jelly.
What's improving? 70% of the land in your city is sinking fast and its your city's own fault for their lack of water infrastructure
"Less than 50 percent of Jakarta's residents have access to piped water, according to the NGO, which runs water, sanitation and health programmes in the city.
More than 75 percent of the city's residents rely on shallow groundwater, but an official study found that 90 percent of shallow wells are contaminated with coliform bacteria or heavy metals"
So instead of building water pipes (a basic necessity) you build skyscrapers, malls, and highways on already sinking ground. And then you scratch your head and wonder why 70% of the city is sinking.
How about your budget to defend island near Manila?
To defend capital from incoming 7 minute missile.
With your budget, you should build water pipes for the 50% of the population who doesn't have piped water. But instead you build skyscrapers and malls. Priorities.
North Jakarta- sinking by 25 cm a year. It's 147 sq km (around 22% of Jakarta land area)
West Jakarta- sinking by 15 cm a year. It's 130 sq km (around 20% of Jakarta's land area)
East Jakarta- sinking by 10 cm a year. It's 188 sq km (around 28% of Jakarta's land area)
So 70% of the land in Jakarta is sinking at the rate at a rate equal to or worse than Malabon (the fastest sinking area in Metro Manila). In fact, probably much worse, because 10 cm is on the high end of the estimates for Malabon.
We still have better infrastructure at the end of the day.

Already happened a decade ago....
"from 1997 to 2009, Metro Manilans with access to piped water in the East Concession increased from the original 49 percent to 94 percent while in the West Concession, the coverage increased from 67 percent to 86 percent." https://www.philstar.com/opinion/201...021/water-woes
That's why 70% of your city is sinking while only small parts of our city are

Yes the priority is food thats why no one eat pagpag in Jakarta.
Free water and better food thats top priority

Free ground water at the expense of the entire city. Now 70% of the city is sinking more then 10 cm per year. Now you have to build an entire new capital. I hope it was worth it
Yes another budget for reclamation and for defense system.
Its worth boi at least not became China province. Yippie
Why didn't the use the budget in the first place to give people piped water? Budget was spent on malls and skyscrapers (which made the ground sink even more).

Ikr not only that, I think they should focus on fixing electricity access and internet over there. I heard Davao suffered blackout almost everyday.
