while I live in Hawaii and we normally have clear Blue skies... we are starting to have haze, not due to pollution , we do not have much of an industrial complex to contaminate the air. Our trade winds normally blow it off island.
Singapore haze is from agricultural fires in Indonesia. Obviously you don't have the problem in Hawaii - neighboring developing countries with large agricultural bases and poor environmental controls.
A couple years ago I was in Singapore and the haze was so bad they were closing schools and people were outside only with masks. Last year I was in Singapore, the haze reached up to lower Thailand.
We have pretty noticable smog/haze here on many days. It is better in GZ and SZ than other places, like Beijing or Shanghai, but it is still drastically worse than anything in the developed West.
