Absolutely agree with you, and something I've been mentioning for years.

There's plenty of xenophobic racism, ignorance, and hatred in all nations of the world, including all East Asian countries.

Yet, Japan always seems to get singled out and the other countries get a pass (the estimated number of immigrants in Japan, 2.23 million in 2015, is actually slightly more than the 2 million in South Korea last year). And none of this bias against Japan is actually supported by facts and statistics, just pure gut emotions ("I don't have any numbers, but I just know in my heart Japan is the most racist country in the world" ).

In fact there was a thread created by a forum member in the politics section last month, on why east asian nations weren't being chastised for not being more diverse. I actually responded in that thread that contrary to what the OP was stating, in fact countries like Japan are incessantly being demonized in the media for not being more diverse and allowing more immigration.

And threads like this one prove my point.

Well, there is one reason for that: most people have no interest in moving to other Asian countries other than Japan.

And I don't know what's to "Chastise" about. Since when it becomes a moral responsibility for countries to accept immigrants? It is like chastising countries for not building high speed trains. There is no right or wrong, and it is up for the Japanese people to decide whether they want immigrants in their society. Japan and other Asian countries have very low crimes probably due to this reason. Is that a bad thing?

And it has nothing to do with racism. The Chinese and Korea, the same "race", find it equally hard to move to Japan. Possible (I have two friends who did) but difficult.

And people in western countries often complain that immigrants don't "integrate". I know many westerners who lived in China for 5 or more years without the slightest intention to "integrate". In fact, the vast majority of them can't speak more than 5 sentences of Chinese. I suppose in Japan, it would be the same. So why should Japan want millions of immigrants?

The Japanese system is well integrated and cultural. In order to be a citizen of Japan you need to be in the village book. And you can get into the village book only by being born to a Japanese family.

The place where it comes up is second and third generation of Korean extraction who are not citizens even if they and their parents were all born in Japan.

And for these folk the discussion about not being cultural integrated and speaking the language are not appropriate.

South Korea is a much smaller country than Japan and yet the numbers are very close. That's pretty telling.

Japanese seem to admire the West and look down on other Asians.

Other East Asians blend in more easily becuase of hair and skin colour, diet and the use of chopsticks. But are not admired by the old generation Japanese.

The OP is wrong.
