Which of these cities, in 2017, would you consider the most vibrant? Which would you consider the most urban? Which has the most urban development?

Shanghai or Seoul for most vibrant or urban, but I still prefer Tokyo overall.

It is like me saying who wouldn't love Paris. Fact is, a lot of people wouldn't.

Tokyo is way too crowded (I usually love big cities), the city itself not visually attractive, and life can be very stressful. Not to mention it is very expensive and quality of life in general is not superb.

Huh? All three are very crowded.......

Tokyo is what I'd call "organised Chaos"...to be honest, even that slum in Osaka is considered neat by any slum standards.

Shanghai and Seoul are probably more vibrant these days, Tokyo is by far the most developed of the three and is not in that "expansionist" mode, but rather, I like its quaintness.

They are all 100% urban...no doubt about that.

Most vibrant...define vibrant?

Anyways, if you are looking vibrant and urban...all three are pretty much the same in urbanity and vibrancy....the differences would be quite small within those two categories.

The 'most urban development'....this implies fixed? Already developed? Tokyo is the most fixed....Seoul is constantly changing....and Shanghai is changing in overdrive or hyper-speed. Oddly enough, the pollution reflects that inversely.....Shanghai is insanely polluted....Seoul is kinda polluted..and Tokyo is quite clean.

If you are looking for polished, ordered urbanity..look at Tokyo. If you want chaotic, coughing, in-your-face urbanity....look at Shanghai. If you want something imbetween, look at Seoul.

Tokyo feels substantially less crowded than Seoul or Shanghai to me.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so you are likely to get many different answers.

I have been to all 3 cities and I would rank them as follows:

1) Tokyo
2) Shanghai
3) Seoul

In my opinion, Tokyo is cleaner, quieter, and more aesthetically pleasing. In my opinion, Japanese people are more calm, polite, and friendly. As far as nightlife excitement, I would rank Shanghai and Seoul higher than Tokyo.

Again, this is just my opinion, but all 3 cities are far superior to anything you could find in the US.

Shanghai has more historical feeling (although it is actually the youngest city among the three).

I would rank them: Tokyo, Seoul, then Shanghai.
Don't know what is so attractive about Shanghai. The Bund is one of the world's most overrated "tourist attraction".
