The Maldives and The Seychelles. (What I've read. What have you read or experienced?)

All I know of both is what I've read in sailing magazines, so I guess it's a toss-up.

Definitely Seychelles if you want lush tropical landscapes and less social conservativsm in the main towns (you can get away with a lot more in the resort areas of Maldives than in the capital but it's still risky). Both have crystal clear water and fantastic diving/snorkeling but The Maldives' are EVEN better. I heard that crime is very low in the Maldives and pretty low in the Seychelles as well but I'm not sure about this.

The Maldives is awesome if you just want to chill, not so much if you are looking for night life.
