Indonesia is one of the most secular countries to accept all the differences, especially religions, such as multi-religious Jakarta will feel this atmosphere and others place in Indonesia

Did you know the former mayor of Jakarta was imprisoned for blasphemy? And that he lost the election due to not being Muslim?

Well. What could go wrong here? You have a poor mostly third world country with a history of corruption, exclusion and violence towards non believers. Read what happened to the Indonesian Chinese in the 60's. Welcome to Iraq or Saudi Arabia on the Pacific.

It's rather unfortunate as I really like Indonesian culture, the people, and the country. It's a very interesting place.

But, yeah, I see the Islam moving further and further to the right...pulling the entire nation with them, half-willingly and half unwillingly, but to a level not so comfortable for non-Muslims.

Saudi Arabian Wahhabis have been very keen to infiltrate the society and culture of Indonesia. They recognize the long term ideological threat of the worlds largest Muslim nation remaining moderate and potentially becoming liberal in the future.

Unfortunately, weak Indonesian politicians and backward, impressionable citizens are allowing that nation to go down a path that will cripple it for generations.

It's a shame that Australia's proximity isn't doing much to help the situation.
