Your country doesn't have to put up with that temporary imported labor thing, you know. They can write into the contract, that the Chinese have to hire a certain percentage of their labor from the host country. But then, I guess, maybe you wouldn't get a nice bridge or stadium? You may have more leverage than you think. If they want your vote in the UN badly enough, they'll agree to your terms.

It makes sense actually. China is a behemoth, whereas Taiwan is small. From a business point of view, China is the logical solution.
