Among separate groups of people, are Kazakhs, and Mongols, the two most culturally similar, yet with languages that are furthest apart on the tree of linguistic families?
I saw Kazakhs and Mongols looks similiar and their eyes were a lot slanted ,like when Asian games in Jakarta, I met many people from all Asian countries, including Kazakhs and Mongols and other Central Asians, their language is rather similar to hearing them speak rather loudly like someone who is angry but physically Mongols are fat and stout body while Kazakhs are not ,they are more like Korean.
during Asian games the match Sumo almost all their is dominate compared to other sports hehe hehe almost all the stands contain Central Asian people

Actually I am sure Mongols look more east asian than Kazakhs. There are Kazakhs living in Mongolia. Perhaps that is what you saw.
Well Wiki says they originated around Lake Baikal. That area is forested isnt it?
The Uyghurs of Xingjiang have caucasoid features.
that was a long time ago, that the Yakuts lived around Baikal, though. They migrated to Yakutia about 1000 years ago. Anyway, by "forest people" I thought you meant people who lived off the forest vis seasonal migration, like the smaller Native nationalities. The Yakuts became farmers, incredibly, managing to eke an annual harvest out of the northern climate, though some also enjoy hunting, but it's not.a subsistence activity for most.
The Uyghurs are a mixed bag. Some look more Cauc, others look Altaic, or Altaic with subtle Cauc influence. Tibetan nomads are like that: Asiatic, but with certain Cauc features; other Tib. nomads have elongated Iranian-type faces, but with Asiatic eyes.
It's fascinating to study faces from inner Asia.

Tengri-ism made a big revival in Yakutia, in the 90's. Islam was never adopted by Yakuts, so there was no competition, when leading intellectuals researched and re-introduced Tengri-ism. I had the impression they lead the pack, among the Turkic peoples, regarding reviving their ancient spiritual traditions.
wow never knew that, thanks for sharing
