Millions participated in the protests and demonstrations over the course of several weeks.
How many stores were looted or burned down during that span?

The American media didn’t cover it in depth other than the break in at the govt building and the police firing rubber buckets and tear gas.

I haven't heard of anything like that.

Hong Kong is Hong Kongers home. They are trying to protect their home. They are speaking for their voice to be heard, and to be represented by their local leaders. Basically most HKers feel that their gov't is being much too Beijing-influenced, and they are slowly losing their rights. There is a lot of pride in their city, etc.

There is really no purpose whatsover for them to loot and burn anything down.

Even when the radical demonstrators vandalized the legislature building, their action served certain purpose.

There are five huge portraits of the Chairperson of the Legislative Council hanging on the wall. Two were serving before 1997 and three were serving after 1997. Only the three portraits of post-1997 Chairperson were taken down and stamped on.

That sends a political message which is crystal clear.

Regardings protests and riots. You ever see how S. Korean police handle protests/riots? They have it down to a science - roman military tactics, shield walls, they know there stuff (although this appears to be a training video)...
