I will be planning a 3 month hiatus into these countries but want to go at the " right time" if there is such thing.
Which 3 month period will sort of secure the best weather in this area ???

Thank You so much .. ideally for me would be leaving in Feb from NYC

I've never been any farther than the airport transit lounges in Japan and S Korea to catch a connecting flight. That said, I can tell you about Thailand. If you're leaving in February, I'd suggest a 30-day stay there. You'll want to be at the airport on your 30th day when exiting the country. Also, as a US citizen, you won't need to pay to obtain a visa in advance from a Thai Consulate in the US for a stay up to 30 days. They'll stamp it in your valid passport. While February is considered to be in the "Cool Season" in Thailand, it can still get quite hot, especially if you're leaving during NY's winter. Ideally, December through the end of January are probably the best months temperature-wise.

There are others here who can tell you more about Japan and S Korea.

You're not going to get all three with good weather. February is going to be cold in Japan and S. Korea, and getting to the end of the high (not-so-hot) season in Thailand. Any time it'll be warmer in the other two, Thailand is either going to be hot or rainy season (rainy season isn't so bad if you know to carry an umbrella everywhere you go and wear shoes you don't mind getting wet).

Didn't read that you departed in February.

Mid-Feb to Mid-March: Thailand

Mid-March to Mid-April: Japan

Mid-April to Mid-May: Korea

P.S. Avoid the Golden Week in Japan which lasts from the last days of April to the early days of May. Really hectic.

Japan is great all year long except summer because too many other Asian tourists would go and it'd be really hot. In spring there's the cherry blossoms, autumn is maple season and you can ski in winter.

I would avoid Korea in March and April as the "yellow dust" season is during that time. Also known as fine dust pollution, a lot of it gets carried from China to Korea during this time of the year. May will still be bad, but not as worse as March and April.

All three of those countries are absolutely stunning and beautiful! Enjoy your trip!
