Pakistan= King of all Stans. Is this an understatement?
What do you mean? There are seven Stan (which means land) countries in the world. 5 of them were part of the Soviet Union, Afghanistan and Pakistan were not. Kazakhstan and Pakistan don’t have that much in common.
I have been to Omsk Siberia and traveled pretty close to the Kazaki boarder. I have Family in a small village there.
P.O. I have also been to Adak flying P3 Orion's

I mean that. In terms of population, the world's biggest water dam, fine cuisine and nuclear power, Pakistan stands out.
Geographically Siberia is similar to Northwest Territory of Canada which is more inland. Alaska is more coastal and in fact cities like Juneau's temperature reached even 80s in the past summer.
But actually Mongolia is much more colder than many parts of Siberia (which is north of Mongolia). For example, Ulaan Bataar is colder than Irkutsk. Though Ulan Bataar is located at 47 degree North Latitude, it is even colder than Yellowknife (capital of Northwest Territories) which is at 60 degree North Latitude.
Siberia/Northern Asia is a very large place and so the temperature ranges will vary depending on what part, where most people live in Siberia it is most similar to Manitoba and western Ontario. here are some comparisons between Siberian/North Asian cities and Canadian cities.
City, Country: Population | Coldest avg monthly low | Annual mean | Hottest avg monthly high | Latitude

I probably more lie Northwest territories combined with the Quebec/Labrador, and New Foundland hinterland. Siberia has quite a large coastline, but it is facing it on the east much like Eastern Canada.
