It was not an insurrection it was war of independence the whole country ratified a constitution and had an elected assembly, that's hardly an insurrection. More an unrecognized state, like Taiwan which obviously has sovereignty but isn't recognized. On the ground there was DE FACTO sovereignty of Filipinos although the fat pigs in Paris and Washington was debating on wether there was DE JURE sovereignty of the Philippine republic, but unfortunately for you it wasn't an insurection because insurections are rebellions against established authority, it was an outright invasion because Americans didn't even practice governance over the Philippines before, anyway you frame it, it was invasion not an insurrection.

The ironic thing? The insurgency in the Philippines between native and American troops was a terrible thing we all agree. Most of the deaths were caused by disease however, specifically a cholera epidemic that killed hundreds of thousands of Filipinos from 1901 to 1904. Much of the worlds suffered actually, Russian lost like 500,000 to the outbreak. India 800,000.
Now for irony: The origin of that epidemic? Yeah - you guessed it - CHINA. Came over via trading junk's from Shanghai to Manila.

Dislike of Japan is not strong in the Phillippines and other SE Asian countries.
