According to you perhaps.
North China is not as polluted as before, due to the policy to cut the use of coal and so on.
But continental cities are always more likely to be polluted than island cities, other things being equal. The monsoon climate of East Asia makes it worse in winter too.

I know you Taiwanese worship Japan like worshiping god. But the truth is Japanese cities look outdated already. They are full of box-shaped concrete buildings. Taipei is worse, of course.
Chinese cities are getting much better every year.

Right.

I guess you just have lower standards.

Lmao.
Winter is always the worst time. Why don't you check summer.
And how does it have anything to do with the topic of this thread? I know you don't miss any chance to attack China but at least find some relevancy.
Rome is one of the most polluted cities in Europe too (yes I have been there). But it tends to be worse in summer so it is not that obvious.

Do you know the first pic is a village, not even a city? How many villages in Taiwan look better than that? LOL

This is Taipei:

Yeah people are just supposed to suck it up in winter.

And believe me, in summer air quality is worse in China than in Japan. A lot worse.

How does it not? Xi'an's horrible pollution makes it a bad city for international tourists.

It isn't. Milan is. Rome is not particularly polluted.

What does Taiwan have anything to do with this? Did anyone claim Taiwan was equivalent to Paris and Rome?

And most villages and countryside in Taiwan actually look normal.

Why is pollution relevant then?
Rome is one of the most polluted cities in Europe, but it has no effect on its historical prominency.

Rome is not particularly polluted. Milan is. And compared to China, Italy's pollution is nothing.

Milan is worse but Rome is also quite polluted according to European standards, so is Paris.
They are both more polluted than London, Madrid, Berlin and so on.

However obviously the OP is not asking about pollution.

Huh cherry-picking. Fogs are associated with pollution but it is also caused by other factors.
The same street as in your pic:

They are more polluted than some other cities, but compared to China their air is fresh af (though Paris and Rome smell terrible as the streets are dirty as ****).

When a city is that polluted it's impossible to find it "timeless" or "elegant".

The same street as in your pic:
I don't see anything timeless or elegant here. It looks artificial, and the sky probably only looks like that 2.5 months out of 12 every year.

This is the center of the city, not designed to be the most "elegant" part but a business part.
