Not long ago Hong Kong was separate from the communist mainland China. In 1997 UK handed over Hong Kong back over to mainland China. 14 years later China’s standing in the world’s economy and military has grown but their control over their people and their human rights abuses have not diminished. Was this growth fueled in part because of the economy of Hong Kong?
Hong Kong definitely played a role in the lifting up of the surrounding Pearl River Delta Region's economy and its influence can be seen in many places. That in turn influenced other cities and special economic zones throughout China. That was probably one reason why Deng Xiao Ping agreed to the "One China, Two Systems" formula of governance, so that Hong Kong can continue to be an economic laboratory from which Mainland China could learn from. Mainland China would adopt policies it liked and toss out ones they did not. However, many Mainland Chinese also went elsewhere for schooling and employment so it wasn't just Hong Kong that influenced China's open economy. I'm sure you'll find traces of the US, UK, Russia, Singapore, Japan, and other economies in China's economy as well.
The Chinese government want the overseas employer who built factories along the coast to move inland so the other provinces could benefit ,but these employers resent that,as it will add to the transportation cost, not to mention the initial outlay of moving, hiring and training.
At one time they learn from HK how to do business with foreign companies, now they pretty much know what to do.
The Chinese factories used to accept orders with odd quantities as they were anxious t o please, then they know better, with small items, minimum order could be 500 or 1000 in quantity, larger items 50-100.

China grew because it followed the ideas of Hong Kong, not because of Hong Kong itself.
The idea in China was to allow private businesses to do mostly what they want. The big difference from Hong Kong business was that China kept some state-owned businesses in key sectors and stepped in if there is a risk to national security. This lead to significant quality issues, but it also meant that Chinese private businesses could be flexible and operate cheaply.
During the last years, and especially after the pandemic, the government has been much more involved with picking winners and losers and enforcing regulations. It is too early to tell what will happen, but I highly doubt China will manage to keep growing at 6%.

HK contributes to the rise of China's economy since the Open Door Policy. It has been an entrepot and source of investment. HK isn't the main buyer of Mainland China made goods, but has a role linking other countries with China.
Mainland china's economy also grows because of other countries and internal demand.
