IMHO, Japan would have been an Asian "Russia" if the US withdrew its military presence and control over Japan.

Hope Russia collapses militarily and economically after its failed takeover of Ukraine weeks/months later this year, and the US and allies will be able to enact military control over Russia. Until then, regional/global wars will remain and evolve.

The difference is that Japan lost and was placed under direct Allied (mostly US) control for years after the end of WWII. Russia (USSR) was on the winning side so did not suffer occupation and outside control.

Even now, with Japan taking a more involved military role, there is still internal and external opposition.

You mean after WWII? Yes it would probably have become a Soviet satellite if we didn't move before the Soviets and Mac didn't make his efforts to bring it under US occupation and influence. US didn't control it's military as much as simply dismissed it's military, they had no military for decades except what was needed for self-defense, even after US occupation ended. That's a what-if scenario, but historians hate what if scenarios as they have too many variabilities and permutations. Certainly without Japan there would probably be no South Korea. But what became of these eastern countries after the cold war? Most moderated and escaped Soviet dominance- Poland, Czech republic, etc.
As Japan was never part of the Russian empire, I see no similar Ukraine scenario even if it fell under Soviet control after the war.

WTF? No Western power has ever enabled military control over Russia before. Napoleon tired that, even Hitler too and they failed. Even countries such as Sweden, Austria/Hungary and Germany in WW1 tried as well. Even the USA and West did send in troops after the communist took control of Russia just after World War 1 to support the White Russian anti communists, but they lost.

Russia has more nukes than any other country. Any attempt by attempted military take over by the US and allies on Russia will surely result in Russia launching nuclear weapons at the USA and west. It be suicidal for the USA and west to consider a military control over Russia.

Russia is not entirely isolated and has the support for China, even relations with India remain strong. They also a major exporter of oil. Besides the USA also still purchases oil from Russia.

Reginal and global wars will always exist.

What he said. You must go back to the Mongols to the find the last time an outside force was able to conquer Russia. It's simply too big, has too fierce of a population, and in modern times the world's largest nuclear arsenal. No one is going to run up in Russia. Also, an economy collapsing (whatever that may mean) does not mean the end. Russia has endured numerous bad economic cycles and have endured. Look at Iran and Venezuela. Governments still around despite their economic hardship unjustly imposed by the West.

Regarding Japan, what I always found interesting is the condemnation they received for doing, the exact same thing Spain, France, Dutch, Portuguese, and the UK did for centuries. Even after Japan was defeated the nations (excluding Spain) were able to keep their colonies well up into the 70s only relinquishing grip after it became apparent the people were standing up (Vietnam). Not excusing their behavior, just the level of hypocrisy was unreal.

The OPs question was clearly not well thought out, seems to be some sort of emotional outburst rather than a true sincere question.

I guess he feels better.

Japan doesn't have enough money, manpower and natural resources to be a military power nowadays.

Japan invaded China,it wants the rich natural resources of Manchuria.
I wonder if they want more land, why not Australia, back then it is scantily populated, but then they will have to fight the Brits.

I don't even think it's that. Japan has serious culture issues. They have become too docile. I read an article about how they are trying to get their young people to have more sex. Seriously you must convince young people to have sex. They have grown contempt with the status quo which is to be joined at the hip in foreign policy with the U.S. even if it is a determent to their nation’s wellbeing. I don't know of any other country in history where the people have so willingly accepted domination. Even Germany inserts its independence.
