I think it's quite an interesting dynamic here:

ARMENIA has mostly been supported by Russia / Iran

whereas

AZERBAIJAN's important allies include Turkey / Pakistan / Israel.

Will the U.S.' support of Armenia change this dynamic?

Armenia is also absent from the most recent Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit.
Armenia is a member of the Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union while Azerbaijan isn't.

Population wise, Armenia can't really keep up with Azerbaijan since:
In 1991 when they gained independence, it was 7.3 million for Azerbaijan vs 3.6 million for Armenia,
in 2022 it's 10.5 million for Azerbaijan vs 3.1 million for Armenia

Of note is the fact that there's a significant and affluent Armenian population in California - specifically, Los Angeles - as well as other major US metros. Those affluent Armenian-Americans support Armenian family, commerce, and socio-political causes. I follow Serj Tankian of the Armenian-American metal band System Of A Down on social media; he was there last week and did a (really good) performance at a festival with Brian May of Queen.

So, the links between the US and Armenia are actually much greater than many people would realize. Meanwhile, Azerbaijan... Well, perhaps not as much, or as deeply. Armenia used to be part of the USSR, and a few of the Armenians I worked with in LA had been in the Soviet Army as a result - despite having a generally low view of Russia and specially Putin.

Azerbaijani support from Pakistan (in China's orbit), Turkey (playing the field for its own benefit between US-allied EU and China/Russia), and Israel (supported by the US but willing to work with all of the above economically as it's expedient) doesn't necessarily put it in the US' or EU's good graces. It also lacks the lobby/support network from the US.

Why was Armenia absent from the recent SCO meeting?

IDK about the blame game Pelosi is playing.

Quote:
Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry said it was responding to a “large-scale provocation” by Armenia late Monday and early Tuesday. It said Armenian troops planted mines and fired on Azerbaijani military positions.

The two countries have been locked in a decades-old conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, which is part of Azerbaijan but has been under the control of ethnic Armenian forces backed by Armenia since a separatist war there ended in 1994.

Azerbaijan reclaimed broad swaths of Nagorno-Karabakh in a six-week war in 2020 that killed more than 6,600 people and ended with a Russia-brokered peace deal

Nagorno-Karabakh declared independence from Azerbaijan in 1994, but the US has never recognized the breakaway republic's validity. The US has maintained a policy of recognizing it as part of Azerbaijan. So why is Pelosi siding with Armenia on this?

This only assumes people who live in those borders aren't mostly Azerbaijani who want to leave Armenia, in such a case Azerbaijan have full right to demand democracy and referendum.
