I just got news this evening about Corazon Aquino's death due to heart complications. She was The Philipines first female president. She ousted dictator Ferdinand Marcos using the power of the people to do so. In many ways, this leader will be missed. May she rest in peace. 25 January 1933 - 31 July 2009.

I will always remember her courageousness in the wake of her husband's assassination and her role in People Power and restoring democracy to the Philippines. She was a woman of great faith in both her God and her fellow Filipinos.

She will be greatly missed. She brought a sense of peace to The Philipines, after getting rid of Marcos.

RIP Tita Cory... We already do miss her! And with the bad weather over the last few days, we know that the heavens are mourning with us too...

I am saddened by her death. Her photos bring back memories of the last days of Marcos in 1986. But I was proud to have marched on the streets, faced the tanks, ran from waterhoses and strew yellow confetti for days and days. It was an historical time and she an extraordinary part of Filipino history. May she rest in peace, and enjoy eternal happiness with her husband in heaven.

I was born a few months after Aquino was elected president, but I can understand the feeling of it being a historical moment. She did good while on earth.

I would like to share a photo e-mailed by a friend in Manila taken today August 3rd. Credits to photographer Tin Sanchez (head of copy) indicated in photo. This was a shot of the crowd that milled around Cory Aquino's body while on the way to Manila Cathedral. An even bigger crowd is expected at the internment at Manila Memorial Park.
