Anyone been to Hokkaido that could give me and my wife some pointers on where to go?
We'll likely start at her home town (Odawara) to see her family, then head off to Hakodate via bullet train. It will be interesting to see the old Western style architecture mixed with the Japanese culture and influence. Then likely we'll go to Sapporo to check out the nightlife there, heard its a young, vibrant city. Other than that, where should we go?
Anyone been to Nemuro? Or those islands nearby that are Russian? I found some places on Google maps (though I think they may actually be military frontier bases...). Anyone hung out with the Ainu on the northern side of the island? And other islands we should check out?
