Sadly, I'm no longer so convinced of the overall intellectual abilities of the average American (esp. those who live down in the south...) to see through this sort of rampantly pathological and narrow-minded philosophy! Talk about intolerant Hate-Speak!

Gawd Help Us, so to speak..... (tho' He's not done much of a job so far, despite some far more problematic events than a bit of open homosexuality...)

Well, if they ever get into power and come for some of my good homosexual friends, they just may have to eat some hot Pb.....

No one can accuse Perry of being an "effete intellectual snob" or a "nattering nabob of negativism" (both Spiro Agnew phrases). I don't discount Perry's chnces at all, and it scares me. He stated that his rally was meant to be "inclusive", but according to what I've seen of it, it was only meant for evangelical Christians. Many politicians have done quite well going for the lowest common denominator.

In a nation of stupid people, the stupid can rise to power, and one has to look no further back in history than George Dumbya Bush, and his born again propaganda.

Dusty, I'm fluent in at least two dialects of southern redneck. In addition I spent my youth in a southwestern Ohio town speaking hamiltuckey. It's truly a privilege to see a competent linguist like yourself demonstrating the art.

Thus speaks the spokesperson of lovespeak, tolerance and broadmindedness.

LOL, the best part is, I have neighbors who, even when speaking slower than usual, you would probably not understand one word in ten. It's only depressing if you take it seriously. The South is really good at laughing at itself. Picking on each other linguistically is considered an art form among the locals.
