Yes and your OP picked out a particular example that read like the Nicene creed. Even that should not be taken too seriously. I once wrote ...dammnit, I'll post it again if I can find it....
After that reading from the Book of Bloviated Accademia nuts, let us not pray..
I affirm there is no God
Nor no Son which anyway he did not send
and who couldn't rise again 'cause he wasn't dead anyway.
Praise to Darwin.
Dawkins is his prophet.
I thank thee random factors, for thy offpring, the Big bang.
And DNA, which came from nothing.
I thank thee that I am not like other menandwimmin
and do not believe anything not peer reviewed.
Praise to Darwin.
Dawkins is his prophet.
May they confound and scarify Hovind, Comfort and Woodmorappe
and Mel Gibson too, while we're about it.
May their vestigial organs swell
and their reproductive ones atrophy.
Praise to Darwin.
Dawkins is his prophet.
Hail Entropy, which only works when I want
and Randomness and Chance, thy handmaindens.
Thou madest Acts of God..who does not exist.
and Lucy, the chimp who looks a bit human.
Praise to Darwin.
Dawkins is his prophet.
Hail the sinful life and the suicidal atheist despair, which is my lot.
Hail to the arrogance of logic, which negateth beauty, wonder and anything good, pretty much.
Praise to nothing, for nothing is everything
and in nothing I believe and belief is nothing.
So There.
"Now let us turn to atheist Hymn number seventy two......seventy two..., 'God. Is. Not. Neccer- sarry.'"
Well, that is less obviously setting out an atheist creed, but the guying of religious - chat hardly indicates that I am part of anything like a religious cult. So your OP point was overdone.
And then we get to where you are pointing up some kinds of the more strident atheists (which doesn't make them a cult) and some of the humanist churches which I don't want myself, but then I don't attend Drying out sessions because I don't have a problem with not drinking.
As bald is not a hair colour and AA is not a wine bar, the atheist churches are neither religion nor cult. They are a method of patching.
Neither are conferences and seminars and TV presentations the equivalent of Church meetings or televangelism.
So really rather small numbers of atheists if any can seriously be represented as making atheism a cult or religion.
And that brings me back to your OP which did not ask 'Do
some atheists make a cult out of atheism?' It was, and I quote:
Is Atheism a religious cult?
