They must be a small number of self - delusionists, even amongst those who suspect that atheists are working hard at not believing.

I've noticed a recent rash of threads started in the A&A area, that if a similar question was posed to theists in the C area would have a life expectancy of perhaps 30 minutes.

Its when someone calls a group sinners that is saying we are bad people. That is something directed towards us as individuals.

Thanks Chango

I have to break my semi-silence on this thread, because I really truly do not comprehend your logic here. ^^^

It comes across as a bit hypocritical to me. My understanding is that you are saying it's okay for atheists to poke fun at believers and poke fun at their belief in God. It's even okay to poke fun directly at the God we believe in. But God forbid (yes pun intended) we dare to say that we believe (because its what our religion tells us to believe) that non-believers will go to hell.

And just for the record, it's not necessarily what I believe. I am just saying I don't understand why it's wrong for those who do believe that, to say it. While it's open season for atheists to poke fun at religious people...

I hope this post is considered applicable to the OP. I think it is.

I agree! Done correctly, it's an art form.

Seems as if we're dangerous as noted in this thread.
I believe child abuse was brought up as one of our dangerous traditions.

~Just to let you know that your posts/complaints/points made are duly noted. The Sticky pertains to posts that are excessively and disrespectfully rude and/or sarcastic. It applies to believers and nonbelievers alike. Humor is tolerated, provided it doesn't cross the line to being overt sarcasm or rudeness. The mods understand various posting styles of humorous sarcasm that does not offend. Please use the Report Post feature and the mods will handle a post as we see fit. The Sticky is intended to be equally applied.

Hope the above provides some clarification.

For the record...I am a believer, but I didn't even bother to open that thread because I thought the title was kind of silly.

I am an Atheist and I don't get the least bit upset if someone says I am immoral and have no purpose in life and am going to hell for all eternity. I think it is really funny that people could believe that.

But god forbid that I suggest Orthodox Jews are immoral if they believe their god condoned the events described in Chapter 31 of the Book of Numbers. They seem to be a protected class.

How about a limit on the amount of bronze age superstition (quoting verse) that can be posted in a single post in the R&P area. Let them build their walls of verse or towers of babel in the more appropriate area, their home turf. Don't ban it entirely, for that would render some of them mute, but perhaps 10 - 15 lines.

Ashe,
Fair enuf. IF we can limit the number of times Atheists can used the words "Bronze aged", "fairy tale" and "sky fairy" etc in the Christianity forum.

hiker.

Although I am a believer, I can understand why you ask those questions. I still haven't found the answers to those questions myself. I guess I am as guilty of cherry picking as any believer.
I do have questions about certain things, but I don't choose to spend too much time with these questions. I can't stay focused on any one thing for long periods of time. I just know that The Bible has postive things in it which I can believe in, along with some things that I dont "get" quite yet.
