If you guys were young and still dating, do you think you could date somebody who believes in some religious deity? What about eventually marrying them at a religious ceremony?
Like they were perfect, and you liked everything about them, but they were super religious.
I don't think I could if they were SUPER religious, but if it was one of those girls who kinda believes in a god, but they don't really follow a religion, then I think I could. As long as she was okay with my atheism.
Why are you all so scared of religious people? lol.
I've had Muslim, Christian and Jewish partners and i'm alright.

Scared? Nah.
But the super religious can be exceedingly annoying, and the thought of spending the rest of my life with someone who can't hold a 10 second conversation without mentioning God or Jesus half a dozen times, well, I don't think I could handle that at all.
Heh, and no matter how hard I might work to keep my family living well, my spouse would still give all the credit to God, which would irritate me after awhile.
What's worse is the "If you loved me, then you wouldn't do <insert some action that God hates here>. I'm worried about your soul ... blah blah blah."
Having a believer spouse isn't really the issue (and maybe my atheisim will rub off - it has with several people I am close to). It's the fanatical, fundamentalist, evangelical kind of believer that I couldn't stand.
Nah. Then you'd be stuck in the position of having to spend your time pretending to respect religion.
And that is something I cannot or will not do, no more than I can pretend that child abuse is OK. (did I just repeat myself?) I view religion as such a dangerous and insane pursuit of fantasy.

Willful ignorance that is so highly valued by religious people is the greatest threat to society, freedoms and mankind's future. It's not about who you boink, but whom you hate and your actions based on your religious born ignorance.

Wow people like this exist?
I know some über religious people down here in Texas and they don't ever really talk about God unless it's Sunday.

Then you have never really met a über religious person, because they do exist in some rather alarming numbers. Around here it is quite common that when introduced to a person, the very first words that come out of their mouths goes something like;....." pleased to meet you, what church do you go to?"...
