Indeed. And reading up on a lot of deconversion stories in the past has convinced me that nobody can be sure that they are not deconversion material. Several of our atheist or at leas agnostic posters here - I'm sure my old pal Seeker SA won't mind me using him as propaganda material (without payment) here- were the fundiest of believers but just could not stop themselves thinking about and trying to answer their doubts and questions.

Agreed. The internet is possibly one of the reasons more and more Americans identify as agnostic or atheist. More of us know we're not alone!

Yep. There are many reasons why people did not register as agnostic, atheist or indeed 'irreligious'.

They weren't aware of the arguments.
They weren't aware of the categories
They didn't know that's what they were.

It's all about information and before the Internet, the alternatives to religion were just not being heard.
