I'm glad people argue for atheism or at least prove the Bible false(I was indoctrinated into a Christian sect). It helped me see where I was hung up. It's also a great way to watch critical thinking skills in action when a person has been taught emotional reasoning. I don't argue for atheism myself so much as against The Watchtower.
I find it funny that atheism is in the religion and spirituality section of this site.
I don't believe in leprechauns, so I'm not going to hang out on an Irish board to dismiss their beliefs.
An atheist cramming their religion down someone's throat is just as bad as fundamental Bible thumper.
Well where would you have them put it? Philosophy maybe ... but that's a stretch, too, for a narrow belief position about a single topic that would be obscure if it weren't for the ubiquity of religion.
But ultimately atheists (deconverts at least) need to talk out their departure from the faith, theists want to argue with us on religious topics, and so it ends up being about why we're not religious.
I view this as hanging out with other atheists, where the forum is parked really has little to do with it. Actually I'm on other atheists forums on other sites and the same suspects argue with us there so it doesn't really matter.
The only reason i posted here is sooooo many of you come in the Christianity board to post your opinions.
And i was genuinely curious. If i was an atheist i wouldn't care.
I steer clear of the Christian Board, though I admit from time to time I call it up just to look at the thread titles. I get a charge out of seeing people arguing over the proper interpretation of complete nonsense. Sort of like taking seriously some argument about whether or not Batman could beat Green Lantern or such.
So, are you in favor of a Christian board which is limited only to the faithful? All dissent vanquished? Chastisement for intruding apostates? That would be the position enjoyed by the Catholic Church in the Middle Ages.
