I'll be honest I have no idea who Jonathan Steingard is. Or why this is a news story.
Don't many people stop believing in god every day?

Strange thing that celebrities make the news for things like this.

But since it made CNN I thought I'd share here.

Here is the response from his band members.

"God is still FOR Jon & he still matters," the statement read. "Why? Because that truth doesn't change just because we question it."

The "he still matters" is a bit strange though. So who are the folks that don't matter? I do like the second part of their statement.

yes, like a blade of grass on the front lawn. what one isn't "worth everything"?

I have one question: ...

"where is the weed-b-gone so I spray this here blade on my driveway?"

According to Wikipedia:
Quote:
Jonathan Steingard (born 1983) is a Canadian musician, singer and songwriter known as the lead vocalist and lead guitarist for the Christian pop-punk band, Hawk Nelson.

Funny. 'Christianity' and 'punk' don't seem to go hand in hand to me.

Isn't punk supposed to be about anti-establishment and rebellion?

I wonder what they sang about?

Based on the defensive behavior of Christians, is it possible they imagine themselves as anti-establishment and, perhaps, even rebellious to a secular society?

Yes, they do.

But it's newsworthy when a person who makes his living by being a christian announces he no longer believes.

Here's a good background on Christian rock - https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2...christian-rock

It's lucrative.

Possibly interesting side note - this atheist is a pretty big fan of some gospel artists (Staples Singers, Clara Ward Singers, Mahalia Jackson). Christian rock? not so much.

Yes, you're right.
I continually underestimate the weight of these things.
