I watched Julia Sweeney's autobiographical monologue Letting Go of God the other night on tv. Her amusing observations and experiences that took her from her Catholicism to Atheism were very entertaining.

I sometimes have a problem articulating how I progressed from being a theist to an atheist and I thought she reflected many of my thoughts and sentiments.

Has anyone else seen her monologues and enjoyed them?

I've seen that some time ago, but here it is for those that are interested... Actually there are several parts to her talk.

Please. I understand it and it deserves to be attacked. All irrationalism does.

Julia Sweeney is a brave and intelligent woman. Just look at what she has to contend with!

Irony.

I haven't seen this video but in the past I generally found Julia Sweeney to be a thoughtful and interesting woman. Unless things have changed her rejection of Catholicism struck me as sincere and tolerant rather than histrionic or hate-filled. (Many ex-Catholics become shrieking jerks to anyone who doesn't come to the same conclusions as themselves)

As a Catholic I obviously don't agree with it, but I respected some of where she was coming from. Possibly this video will be mean and snarky and change my mind, but I hope not.

The video is not mean at all, it is a thoughtful insight into how she questioned what her faith and religion actually meant for her.

You're right, it was pretty good. Julia Sweeney's maybe my favorite activist atheist.
