Did anybody else see a funny article in last weeks Time Magazine on odors and morality? I read it while in the Doctors office this week, and it was a laugh out loud article.
There was a study in England which looked to see if morality was affected by odors. In the studies, environments where pleasant odors were exposed to the test specimens, the morality of the people improved. The next test was to expose the test specimens to the smell of “farts”. Their data showed morality collapsed.
All I could think was we need to limit foods which cause gas, and of course avoid cows who I understand “fart” more than any other species. I have always wondered if it was morally correct for those cows I see on bill boards were taking the moral high ground when they were pushing us to eat more chickens.
ROFL!! Thanks for posting the link. That's some funny stuff.
I was hoping they would mention more on their theoretical framework for morality, but it seems like they didn't really have one.
So next time I am shopping for a car at dealerships, maybe I should try smelling like I just stepped out of the shower in the hopes that I won't get ripped off as much? (no offense to any car salespeople!)
Note to self: start a new religion - ask for donations in the name of beano. BEANO HOME. The link has a "univ of gas" which will be my sermon.
