Did Christianity Cause the Crash?

http://www.theatlantic.com/doc/200912/rosin-prosperity-gospel

This is a new twist on the christian faith. Rewards now? What will come later if they get everything they want here in this life?

As for the title, I think we all can share the blame for the crash. Some for not watching, some for taking advantage, others for trying to stay in office. There is plenty of blame to go around.

I posted this a few weeks ago, but I changed the title, as I think it is unfair to be that general.

Personally, I can't see how I contributed to any crash. I watched and sold at the appropriate time, I bought at the appropriate times, I paid cash for my houses, and I don't carry credit balances. My vehicles are paid off, I am always employed, etc.

My sister, who's very religious, doesn't believe that this new brand of Christianity is biblically based and even though I'm not a Christian I think she's right. Materialism and gaining as much wealth as possible has never been at the center of the Christian faith. This is a very weird combination of capitalism and Christianity that seems to be mostly an American phenomenon.

Since I don't think you're quite yet married, I'm wondering if you're perhaps open to bids on your "brideliness"...

Can we start the bidding at, say, $3.5M? In gold?

Well, other than raising the status of Lions, I don't see a lot that christianity has done right.
