I am thinking about buying a home in Fayetteville, Ga. What are good and the bad? School, Crime, Shopping, entertainment.

Fayetteville still has nice areas but is slowly sliding downhill overall i think. Neighboring Clayton County is encroaching and it's starting to reflect that in the crime rate. I would look at Peachtree City instead if you want good schools.

The Whitewater Cluster and the Starr's Mill Cluster are very highly regarded.

Overall, Fayetteville is a great part of the metro area. Many great options to choose from. Even though the Starr's Mill and the Whitewater parts of Fayetteville get a lot of the shine, the Fayette County High Cluster is still good.

Hopefully, the poster Newsboy will chime in with lots of good info about the area.

Anything on south 85 towards Brooks. Whitewater schools are great I hear. I graduated from Fayette Co High and I hear it is night and day different. PTC is nice as well

Fayette County is fantastic place if you want some space between you and Atlanta. Fayetteville has changed due to the proximity of the Atlanta Housing Authority's relocation efforts to Point South. But its not that bad. There are probably some great deals to be had in Fayetteville. The county has a great land use plan that is probably unique in the Metro area. I can't remember the specifics, but the majority of property outside of city limits has to be 1 or more acres (it might be even more). This adds to the rural nature of the county. Peachtree City is a beautiful place that is unique in many ways.

Fayette county is a downright beautiful place. If you don't like rural, its probably not for you. If you are coming all the way out here, and can afford it, I would highly recommend living out side the city limits. You will have a lot more space and generally a very nice piece of property.
