It really is a lot of fun. My only problem with it is that I am intensely claustrophobic in crowds and it's really wall to wall Klingons and Stormtroopers and Hobbits and whatever so, although I really want to go, I have a very hard time making myself do it.

Anyone who is curious about Dragon Con, do a Google Image Search for "Dragon Con."

In my experience, the scantily clad young ladies outnumber the Klingons, Stormtroopers and Hobbits about 100 to 1.

Yeah, it's fun.

my birthday is Sept 7 and last year we had a group out at No Mas Cantina. After dinner I suggested we head to the Marriott Marquis to do some people watching. It was awesome!

I'll be at the Marquis again with some friends this year, Saturday night, September 4. We will probably be easy to spot as we won't have on any costumes!

Yes, that is VERY true. If you are too geeky for Dragon Con....get help.

I used TicketMaster last year which was good because I was in a very short line. The year before I had to stand in a long serpentine line. But I think they are not using TicketMaster this year.

But you can people watch for free and people watching was fun. The only seminars I found interesting were the ones with the stars. Last year was good since they had Leonard Nimoy, William Shattner, Patrick Stewart, Kate Mulgrew and kid who played Malfoy (Tom Fenton) in Harry Potter. I haven't heard if they have any big names this year.

Also, some women wear very revealing clothing but I think the hotels clamped down on them. Kinda ruined it. And in general, hotel staff started to clamp down on the craziness in general. If they continue this year...well....they should move Dragon Con. It can get a little wild but so long as no one is hurt...let it be.

I have had advanced tickets for several months, but at that time I did not know I would be the father of a 2 month old daughter for the 2010 con. I won't be able to make a weekend of this year, but i think my wife will let me go for a day. If my daughter turns out to be the geek that i am, perhaps she will come dressed as a night elf or something in a few years.
