Bear in mind that the actual "City of Marietta" is very small, whereas the area that is unincorporated and has a Marietta address is very large, and very varied- you can find marginal areas with $100k homes, and high-end areas with $750k homes, and both have Marietta addresses. Obviously, the living will differ greatly in those two areas.

It would be helpful if you could be more specific regarding what you're looking for.

My wife's friend lives in Marietta or has a Marietta address and she is trying to encouraging us to move there. I wanted more information about the area. I don't know the specifics of where she lives, but I can ask.

But what are you looking for? Budget? Kids? Where will you work? What do you desire in a house?

What works for her won't necessarily work for you, obviously.

Cobb county (which is the county marrietta is located in) has some of the best schools in the state. Crime is low, but like the prior poster said, there is a big difference, between the actual city, west cobb, and east cobb. My finance live sin Eat cobb, so I can only mention my views from that from the little time I have spent there. But it is a very desirable place to live, and has some very very rich families.

You want to live in East Cobb. East Cobb's the nice part of town. It'd be preferable if you have kids to live in the Lassiter High School district.

Yes, East Cobb is a great part of town, but there are other very nice areas in the county, including West Cobb, Acworth, Kennesaw, and others. Houses in East Cobb will be slightly more expensive overall, and slightly older.

You also have to consider where you need to commute to from if you live in East Cobb. Getting to Roswell or Alpharetta is a breeze. Getting to Sandy Springs and Atlanta can be less of a breeze, since there is one bridge south over the hooch via Johnson Ferry, and it can get backed up.

It is a decent sized city. Depends on where you live. Parts of it like Franklin Rd are crime and drug infested. Other parts around Atlanta Rd require Spanish. And parts of it are quite nice.

East Cobb is great if you have kids in school, otherwise, you'll be bored out of your skull. There are some pretty and historic neighborhoods around the Square, and the Square is really cool, but it's also surrounded by some major sketchiness.
