We want to go to the Cyclorama and to the baseball game on Friday. I have never been to Atlanta but have heard that the traffic is . . . challenging.

Would one of these routes usually be significantly better than the other around 2:00 on a Friday afternoon?

Starting place: near Northlake Mall

Route A: I-285 to US-78 to Lakeshore Dr and some other streets (McLendon, Moreland, Memorial, Cherokee)

Route B: I-285 (N) to I-85 (S) to . . . I-20 or somewhere in that area

Thanks!

Surface streets? It seems like you could take Briarcliff Rd from Northlake--it becomes Moreland at Ponce de Leon
2PM you should be OK with the other options, too--others will have better advice.

ETA:
Head northwest on Briarcliff Rd NE toward Henderson Mill Rd NE 118 ft
2. Slight left to stay on Briarcliff Rd NE 9.7 mi
3. Continue onto Moreland Ave NE 1.8 mi
4. Turn right to merge onto I-20 W 1.5 mi
5. Take exit 58B for Hill St toward Turner Field 0.2 mi
6. Turn left at Hill St SE 0.5 mi
7. Turn left at Georgia Ave 0.3 mi
8. Turn right at Cherokee Ave SE
Destination will be on the left

TAH directions will work. May be slower with the lights but fairly easy.

TAH's directions are great. Route A is also good/decent.

Route B...no!

Now that I think about it --couldn't the OP get on i285E at LaVista and then take I20---I wouldn't know where to direct him/her to exit but that seems somewhat easier.

About a week or so ago I googled some directions and received something similar to Option A---I have no idea where Lakeshore Drive is----much to learn about the various ways to get around this city.

This would be good as well--especially since the Cyclorama (and Turner Field) are right off I-20.
