so the latest on my shipping research...

the best price I've gotten thus far is $3000. they calculated our move based on 4.25 sq. meters of space in the shipping container.

other companies have quoted us at $3500 and even $4000. odd how the prices vary so much.

in the end i think i'll end up sending my stuff to NJ first for 2 reasons:

one, it's cheaper. i have been requesting 2 quotes from each company, one to NJ, the other to Atlanta, and to Atlanta is consistently $500-$600 more.

two, i need to rent a truck and drive my stuff i have in NJ to atlanta anyhow. TV, futon, clothing, bicycle, stereo with speakers, all still in NJ stored away at my parents' house, so whether i rent a 12' moving truck or 16' moving truck, there's no difference.

renting a moving truck + gas is gonna run around $1500 but there's really no way of avoiding it and it looks like shipping my stuff from europe to NJ is gonna run at least $3000.

ouch. i really thought i could do this cheaper.
