I am curious, is anyone aware of similar activities going on in counties such as Gwinnett, Cobb and Fayette for people rehabbing/gentrifying older neighborhoods, as we've been seing in Atlanta/Dekalb areas? Or is it a phenomenon just for those looking to move intown/close to Atlanta?

Do people care to do these things, or are they not worth doing in these areas, since new construction seemed to be more common in the suburbs? I'm just curious on the matter. I am well aware of the real estate/economic situation going on, but that hasn't stopped people from buying and rehabbing intown neighborhoods (not as common place these days, but still ongoing).

I see rehabbing going on in quite a few of the OTP neighborhoods, notably those that came up in the 60's and 70's and are due for an update.
Smyrna
Mableton
Marietta/East Cobb (neighborhoods such as Indian Hills)
Sandy Springs (notably the neighborhoods closest to the perimeter)
Roswell (Martin's Landing comes to mind)
Dunwoody (I barely recognize my old neighborhood from all the renovation effort)
Norcross (downtown area)
Peachtree Corners
Lilburn
Conyers
Peachtree City
A lot of these communities offer what the intown neighborhoods often don't: more square footage, quality public schools, lower taxes.

Downtown Lawrenceville, GA. Been going on for some time and very nice.
Downtown Buford, GA. Again, going on for awhile and also very nice.

Great list.

Answers the OP's question perfectly.

Thank you guys for the replies. I was wondering if it was only an intown thing, since I never hear of anything OTP.

Any pics or articles?

Thanks again.
