I have seen detailed plans (from another site) that solve this problem. It won't be cheap, but it needs to be done yesterday. The rail traffic bottleneck is happening in all major hubs, for both freight and what's left of passenger traffic. Our infrastructure is in bad need of some TLC.

Umm...You did click on the link, right? This article was published by the Atlanta Business Chronicle, NOT the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Very big difference there.

Yes, I did - my mistake. I'm a huge fan of accuracy - neither puplication seems too concerned with that particular attribute, imo.

Sure. It's a three-part entry from last year on an excellent rail blog. It's a long read, but brilliant.

Cool Post>

I Love the idea to be able to travel to Chicago or Savanna by Rail.

I wish somebody would show that to the DOT.

Me, too. Going to Savannah by rail would be cool! And you can go to Chicago by rail now, but you have to detour via DC or VA on Amtrak.
