hello,
i've been looking online at some apple orchards and most seem to be in the ellijay area. can anyone recommend one? we just want to pick some apples, maybe a petting zoo, but we don't want all the jumpy things or other activities. the more natural the setting and the less crowded the better! thanks.

You could try this one--I'm not certain that I've ever visited it--
Reece Apple House in the North Georgia Mountains

I suppose we were somewhere near Ellijay --and stopped at an apple 'warehouse'--every kind of apple was displayed and that was about it.

I would think there would be many of these open in the fall in North GA.

I've been to Hillcrest Orchards several times. They have their annual "Apple Picking Jubilee" Saturday's & Sunday's now through October. This is where you pay about $5 to go out into the field and pick your own apples. It's a fun family activity. The orchard is located about 10 miles east of Ellijay on highway 53. The orchard tends to get quite busy, so try to arrive early in the day.
