Does anyone here commute the opposite direction from Atlanta to Alpharetta? There's a job in Alpharetta of Morris rd. that I'm intrested in, but the only problem would be the commute. I would live in Atlanta around Turner Field, and would have to travel northward. The hours would be 8:30am-5:00pm. Unfortunately my budget at this time can't afford for me to live closer to Alpharetta

Is Morris off of exit 11 or 12? I don't know about the whole commute but I see Windward Pkwy (Exit 11) heading northbound backed up badly in the mornings. Exit 12 wouldn't be a problem.

Default Exit 11 off GA 400

I have the same question. I live in Downtown Atlanta and I'm considering taking a job off Windward Parkway, which is Exit 11. I'm wondering what the commute would be like. Any ideas?

Thanks.

I had a buddy who did this commute for 6 months and he said it was hit and miss. There are 1-2 accidents per week on this stretch as well. he said it took him 30 min some days and over an hr on others.

The commute will be terrible, especially coming back. 400 S to 85 S to I-20 can take 45 minutes in and of itself in the evening.

On the surface it's better than commuting to Atlanta from Alpharetta but after doing the reverse commute for a while it got old very fast. I ended up buying in Alpharetta close enough to GA400 that I can get in the city off peak and on weekends in 30 minutes.

TERRIBLE!!! I used to drive from Grant Park to Sandy Springs. 400S in the afternoons is a nightmare. I was actually better off taking 285 West to 20 East to get home.

I commute daily from Brookhaven to Alpharetta (exit 9). My hours are 9-6 and I take 285W to 400N in the mornings. I can only comment on the 400N portion of your potential commute- it is a very easy drive. I usually time myself, and it pretty much takes me 22 min door-to-door. 400N NEVER has traffic and I can go 80 mph the whole way without any problems.

In the evenings, it is a little worse. 400S is still fairly clear, but there are often long backups to the Holcomb Bridge and Northridge exits (which affects all lanes). Of course, rain is always a negative factor as well.

It seems like the term "reverse commute" and what it implies is rapidly becoming obsolete in Atlanta.

I did the same thing as Merin for a year and a half - Grant Park to Perimeter. Driving up that way was fine most mornings, but afternoons - forget about it. Even leaving a little earlier 3-4pm was still terrible. Most days 45 min - 1 hour to drive 15 miles. Drove me crazy!

I agree with LovinDecatur - there is no reverse commute anymore. With people and companies spread out everywhere - it is becoming an obsolete term.
