Why is the merger of two airlines that aren't HQ'd in Atlanta or even serve Atlanta "Great News!" to anyone in Atlanta or on this forum? To the extent that they would compete with Delta, it's even less "good news" to folks here.

I would not be surprised to see an Asian airport to take the top spot for passengers within the next few years, at all.

Exactly, Neil.

From what I've seen on an airline forum, people in the know seem to think that all this means for Atlanta is a downgrade from mainline to regional jets to several important hubs like Newark & Washington Dulles, among possibly several others.

We are VERY fortunate to have large Delta & AirTran hubs here. We need to support them.
